Detailed Itinerary
08:00 – 09:30 | Departure from Shanghai to Paradise on Earth
-
Our Arrangement: You will take a high-speed train from Shanghai to Hangzhou (approx. 1 hour, distance approx. 158 km). Upon arrival at Hangzhou Railway Station, our private driver will be waiting at the exit with a welcome sign to begin your Jiangnan journey.
09:30 – 10:30 | Visit the Millennial Ancient Temple 【Xiangji Temple】
-
In-depth Sightseeing (Our Arrangement): Visit Xiangji Temple, originally built in 978 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty. Unlike typical temples with yellow walls and grey tiles, it is renowned for its rare copper architectural style, with twin towers and halls that shimmer with solemnity in the sunlight. It enshrines Kinnara, known as the “God of Food” in Buddhism.
-
Cultural Vibe: Located next to the Grand Canal, locals often visit here to pray for family abundance and healthy dining. You can stand on the ancient Daguan Bridge to capture a perfect shot of the canal boats framed by the temple’s twin towers.
11:00 – 12:30 | Trace the Roots of Tea 【China Tea Museum】
-
In-depth Sightseeing (Our Arrangement): Visit China’s only national museum dedicated to tea and tea culture. You can choose one of the two branches based on your interest:
-
Shuangfeng Branch: Adjacent to West Lake, designed in a classical Jiangnan garden style. Surrounded by Longjing tea plantations, it displays exquisite antique tea sets dating back to the Neolithic Age.
-
Longjing Branch: Built along a hillside and encircled by tea gardens. Here you can learn about Tang Dynasty tea boiling and Song Dynasty tea whisking techniques. The tea altar at the summit is a photographer’s paradise, offering a view of West Lake and the rolling tea hills.
-
-
【Alternative Plan Notice】: If you travel on a Tuesday, the China Tea Museum is closed. As a perfect alternative, we will arrange a visit to the China Silk Museum. As the world’s largest silk-themed museum, you will immerse yourself in the glorious weaving history and craftsmanship of the “City of Silk.”
12:30 – 13:30 | Local Lunch (Included)
-
Our Arrangement: We will arrange a hearty lunch for you. Sit back, relax, and recharge after your morning of exploration.
14:00 – 15:30 | Tea Culture Heritage 【Meijiawu Tea Village】
-
In-depth Sightseeing (Our Arrangement): Head to the core protection zone of West Lake Longjing Tea, known as “Ten-Mile Meijiawu.” With over 600 years of history, it features Ming and Qing style buildings and has hosted many world leaders and celebrities since the 1950s.
-
Experience & Tips: Stroll across ancient bridges and view spectacular century-old tea trees. We recommend stopping at a riverside teahouse to watch local farmers demonstrate traditional hand-roasting techniques and taste a cup of authentic West Lake Longjing tea. Listen to the babbling brook and feel the leisure of Hangzhou life.
16:00 – 18:30 | Stroll through the World Heritage Site 【West Lake Scenic Area】
-
In-depth Sightseeing (Our Arrangement): Explore this world-renowned cultural heritage. We will take you along the Su Causeway to witness the scenery described in Su Shi’s poetry; visit Wansong Academy to find traces of the “Butterfly Lovers” legend; visit Long Bridge to enjoy the “Leifeng Pagoda at Sunset” (one of the Ten Scenes of West Lake) and observe local match-making culture; and explore Breeze-ruffled Lotus at Quyuan Garden, a filming location for the 1987 Dream of the Red Chamber.
-
Personalized Exploration (Optional/Self-pay):
-
Lakeside Cycling: Rent a public bike (first hour free) to enjoy the breeze and explore the lake like a local.
-
Lake Cruise (Self-pay): Take a boat to “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon” and take a photo that matches the image on the back of the 1 RMB note.
-
Tower View (Ticket Self-pay): Climb Leifeng Pagoda for a bird’s-eye view of West Lake and learn about the legend of the White Snake.
-
18:30 – 19:30 | Dinner Recommendations (At your own expense)
-
As the trip concludes, you are free to enjoy dinner in the West Lake commercial area or near the railway station.
