Description

Before booking, obtain written confirmation: The daily plan and summary describe 7 days and 6 nights, but the two included-service lists state 2 nights plus 3 nights, totaling 5. Meal, entrance-ticket and paid-experience lists also overlap. Ask the operator for a night-by-night hotel list, included meals, exact ropeway tickets, attraction admissions, tie-dye/flower-cake charges, home visits and transfers. Do not infer the contract or pay twice from conflicting sections. Listed times are an unconfirmed sequence, not a guarantee that transfers or queues take no time.

Day 1: Arrival in Dali · First Encounter with Wind, Flower, Snow, and Moon

Accommodation: Dali Urban Area/Erhai Lake Boutique Hotel (e.g., near the South Gate of Dali Ancient City or a sea-view hotel along Erhai East Road, subject to the actual order)

Meals: Breakfast × Lunch × Dinner × (Self-care recommended)

Itinerary Overview: Airport/Railway Station Pick-up → Hotel Check-in → Free Time (Optional surrounding exploration)

Arrival and Pickup
  • The guide will contact you via SMS 30 minutes before arrival and wait at the designated area with a “Pickup Sign” (Pickup services available at Fengyi Airport/Dali Station; travel time to hotel is approximately 30-50 minutes).
  • Arrival in the morning (9:00-12:00) is recommended to maximize the first day; for afternoon/evening arrivals, going directly to the hotel for rest is advised.
Recommended Free Time (After 14:00)
  • Explore Dali Ancient City (Free): Enter from the South Gate, walk north along Fuxing Road, and visit Wuhua Tower (Exterior free, climbing fee 2 yuan) for a panoramic view of the city; the afternoon sun is gentle, perfect for photographing the Honglong Well streams and Bai-style residences with green tiles and white walls.
  • Local Life Experience:
    • People’s Park (Northeast of the ancient city): A place where locals exercise and play chess; observe Bai elders performing the Bawangbian (traditional dance) and feel the slow pace of life.
    • Huguocheng “Foreigner Street”: As lanterns light up in the evening, try roasted Rushan (cheese slices, 5 yuan/skewer) or Paoluda (15 yuan/cup), and browse handmade silver jewelry shops (remember to compare prices).
  • Dinner Suggestion: For an authentic experience, “Meizijing Restaurant” (Location: Middle section of Yuer Road in the Ancient City) is recommended. Signature dishes include Braised Chicken (68 yuan) and Steamed Pork with Pickled Plum (48 yuan), averaging 50 yuan per person; the sour and spicy flavors fit the Yunnan palate.

Day 2: Dali Depth · Chongsheng Temple · Ancient City · Erhai · Flower Cake

Accommodation: Dali (Same as Day 1)

Meals: Includes Breakfast (Hotel buffet), Includes Lunch (Group meal/Specialty meal)

🕘 Morning: Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas (9:00-12:00)
  • Attraction Details: Built by the royal families from the late Nanzhao Kingdom (approx. 836-840) to the Dali Kingdom (937-1253). The main tower, “Qianxun Pagoda,” is 69.13 meters high and is a Tang Dynasty close-eave brick tower—the tallest of its kind in China. The North and South small towers are Song Dynasty style, 42.19 meters high. Arranged in an isosceles triangle, the three pagodas form the classic “Wind, Flower, Snow, and Moon” scene with Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake.
  • Must-Do Experiences:
    • Photography at Reflection Pool (Best time: 9:30-10:30 when slanted sunlight makes the water mirror-like and reflections clear);
    • Visit Chongsheng Temple (Additional ticket 75 yuan required, includes the Three Pagodas area; group itinerary may include this, check actual order); the temple houses a replica of the Dali Kingdom-period “Zhang Shengwen Painting Scroll” to learn about Nanzhao Buddhist history.
  • Tips: The area is large; wear comfortable sports shoes. Battery carts are available (35 yuan/person, optional).
🕘 Noon: Lunch (12:30-13:30)
  • Group meals are usually arranged at farmhouse restaurants near the scenic area; try the “Bai Eight Bowls” (includes crispy meat, steamed pork, sour and spicy fish, etc., approx. 40 yuan per person). If you prefer freedom, return to the ancient city for “Zaihuishou Cold Chicken Rice Noodles” (19 Renmin Road, approx. 25 yuan per person).
🕘 Afternoon: Dali Ancient City · Erhai Cycling (14:00-17:30)
  • Dali Ancient City Secondary Exploration: Focus on the “Bed Sheet Factory Arts District” (East side of the city), a renovated old factory with independent designer shops and craft workshops—ideal for artistic photos;
  • Erhai Cycling: Recommended starting from Caicun Pier (approx. 5 km from the city, 15 yuan taxi) and riding along the West Ring Road to Longkan Pier (distance and permitted route to be checked with the rental operator). Along the way:
    • Caicun Wetland: Reed marshes and water birds, perfect for Japanese-style photography;
    • Longkan Pier: Lakeside scenery; light is soft after 16:00, great for a 30-minute photo stop;
    • Rental Advice: Confirm the permitted vehicle type, helmet, rental price and return location before setting off. Do not leave your original identity document as a deposit. The old references of 20 yuan/hour for bicycles and 50 yuan/hour for electric bikes are unverified, not a confirmed tour charge; one-way returns are not assured.
🕘 Evening: Flower Cake Making Experience (18:00-19:30)
  • Workshop Info: Head to “Jiahua Flower Cake Factory” (Xiaguan Town, approx. 20 km from the ancient city, 30-minute drive). The factory is next to a rose garden at the foot of Cangshan (Rose blooming season is April-October).
  • Experience Content:
    • Production Line Tour (18:00-18:30): Learn about rose selection (edible petals only), filling preparation (hand-kneaded), and the baking process;
    • Handmade Session (18:30-19:30): Make 4 cakes per person (approx. 30 minutes). An instructor will guide you through filling, molding, and the final products can be packed (extra 5 yuan packaging fee).
  • Price Reference: Factory tour is free; the making experience is included in the itinerary (some high-end groups include finished products, basic groups may require self-pay of 38 yuan/person).
Dinner Suggestion
  • Recommended “Dali Duke Duan Restaurant” near the hotel (Location: Yeyu Road, approx. 60 yuan per person), specializing in creative Bai cuisine. Try the Sour and Spicy Shrimp (58 yuan) and Rushan Sachima (28 yuan/portion); the environment integrates Bai Tie-dye elements.

🕘 Morning: Xizhou Ancient Town (8:30-12:00)
  • Transportation: Depart from Dali hotel at 7:30, approx. 1 hour drive (68 km).
  • Ancient Town Activities:

    • Yan Family Mansion (10:00-11:00): Ticket 30 yuan (self-pay). Typical Bai “Three Rooms and a Wall” architecture; watch Bai dance performances (10:30 session, includes Three-Course Tea: Bitter, Sweet, and Aftertaste);
    • Bai Residence Visit: Recommended “Qichi Library” (Free), a Qing Dynasty scholar’s former residence with exquisite wood carvings.
🕘 Noon: Lunch (12:30-13:30)
  • Try “Yang Shunbao Poshu Baba” (Entrance of Sifang Street, approx. 10 yuan); or “The Linden Centre” (Renovated century-old Bai mansion, approx. 80 yuan, try the Braised Chicken with Rushan).
🕘 Afternoon: Zhoucheng Village · Tie-dye Experience (14:00-16:30)
  • Zhoucheng Village: Known as the “Home of Tie-dye,” where 80% of families engage in the craft. Visit “Puzhen Tie-dye Museum” (Free) to see century-old walls and traditional indigo fermentation vats.
  • Tie-dye Experience: Choose a “Butterfly” or “Floral” pattern (takes 1.5 hours), cost 80-150 yuan/person (includes fabric, dye, and instructor). The finished product can be shipped home.
  • Tips: The product needs 24 hours to set its color; shipping is recommended. Small square towels (30 yuan) and tablecloths (80 yuan) are available for purchase outside.
🕘 Evening: Travel to Lijiang (17:00-19:00)
  • Approx. 2 hours drive (140 km). View highland fields and villages while the guide explains the history of the Ancient Tea Horse Road.
🕘 Night: Lijiang Ancient City (19:30-21:30)
  • Mu Mansion (interior visit only during confirmed opening hours): Ticket 40 yuan (self-pay). The “Forbidden City of Lijiang,” residence of the Naxi Mu Clan; view the exterior if entry has closed; any interior visit must be rearranged within confirmed opening hours, not assumed available at 19:30;
  • Sifang Street (20:30-21:30): The core of the World Heritage site. Walk the stone paths to the “Large Water Wheels” (landmark) or sit at a tea house on the second floor of “Kegong Fang” (20 yuan/cup of Pu’er tea) for a view;
  • Black Dragon Pool Park (optional, during confirmed opening hours): A 10 yuan taxi ride away. Reflections depend on daylight or suitable light, visibility and water conditions, and are not guaranteed at night. Check current entry and maintenance-fee rules before visiting; the old 70-yuan figure is not a verified universal charge.
Dinner Suggestion
  • “No. 88 Snack Shop” in the ancient city (Upper Xingren Section, approx. 60 yuan). Must-order: Cured Rib Hotpot (128 yuan/small pot) with potatoes; or “A’an Yogurt” near Sifang Street (15 yuan/bowl).

Day 4: Lijiang Depth · Jade Dragon Snow Mountain + Blue Moon Valley + Baisha Murals + Shuhe Ancient Town

Accommodation: Guesthouse in Lijiang Dayan Ancient City/Shuhe Ancient Town (Same as before)

Meals: Includes Breakfast (Hotel buffet); Lunch (Group meal/Snow Mountain snack); Dinner (Self-care, local restaurant recommended)

🕘 Morning: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (8:30-13:30)
  • Attraction Details: The southernmost great snow mountain in the Northern Hemisphere, sacred to the Naxi people. Shanzidou peak reaches 5596 meters. Features Glacial Park, Spruce Meadow, Yak Meadow, and Blue Moon Valley.
  • Fixed Itinerary:
    • Depart at 8:30 (40-minute drive);
    • 9:30-11:30 Spruce Meadow visit: use the reserved Spruce Meadow ropeway and open forest/meadow paths. Confirm the actual included ticket with the operator: mountain admission, ropeway and shuttle are different items, and 140 yuan is not a universal Spruce Meadow ropeway fare;
    • 11:30-12:30 Allow time to finish the Spruce Meadow route and descend. Spruce Meadow and Glacier Park are separate routes: the 4680m viewpoint is not a 20-minute walk from Spruce Meadow. Glacier Park uses a different cableway, ending at 4506m, followed by an optional open boardwalk. The operator must confirm whether that separate route and its tickets are included before you plan it. Read the Glacier Park cableway and upper-station guidance for that alternative, not as a promise that this product includes it;
    • 12:30-13:30 Descend by the confirmed ropeway first, then use the appropriate shuttle to Blue Moon Valley. Allow separate time for queues, transfers and walking; the bus does not replace the ropeway descent.
  • Tips:
    • Huge temperature differences (bring a down jacket or rent one for 50 yuan);
    • Discuss your high-altitude plans with a clinician beforehand, ascend gradually and keep activity light on arrival. Small handheld oxygen cans do not provide sustained treatment. Do not ascend further if headache, nausea or unusual exhaustion develops; seek help and descend if symptoms worsen. Breathlessness at rest, confusion or difficulty walking require urgent medical help and descent as soon as possible.
🕘 Noon: Lunch (timing must allow the next transfer)
  • Group meal is usually a boxed snack with hot soup (approx. 40 yuan); “Ayidan Black Goat Hotpot” in Lijiang (old reference: 80 yuan per person) is a separate later dining option, not a return trip that fits before the listed 14:30 departure from Blue Moon Valley.
🕘 Afternoon: Baisha Ancient Town · Baisha Murals (14:30-17:00)
  • Transportation: Depart Blue Moon Valley at 14:30 (30-minute drive, 20 km).
  • Ancient Town and Murals:
    • Baisha is the earliest settlement of the Naxi people and quieter than Dayan;
    • Baisha Murals (interior admission is separate from strolling the town; inclusion in this tour needs confirmation): Painted from the early Ming to the early Qing period, blending Buddhism, Taoism, and Naxi Dongba elements. Focus on the murals in “Dabaoji Palace.”
  • Cultural Experience: Visit the “Baisha Fine Music” center (Performance at 15:00-16:00, 20 yuan) to hear “living musical fossils.”
🕘 Evening: Shuhe Ancient Town Free Time (17:30-19:30)
  • Activities: Visit Qinglong Bridge and Jiuding Dragon Pool; visit the Tea Horse Road Museum (Free); try snacks like Chickpea Jelly (10 yuan) and Fresh Flower Cakes (15 yuan).
Dinner Suggestion
  • “Tinghua Tang” in Shuhe (approx. 70 yuan), Naxi private cuisine. Recommended: Cured Ribs with Potatoes (58 yuan) and Sautéed Eggs with “Water-Lily” (48 yuan, a local aquatic plant).

Day 5: Lijiang → Shangri-La · First Bend of Yangtze River + Tiger Leaping Gorge + Dukezong Ancient City

Accommodation: Guesthouse in Dukezong Ancient City, Shangri-La (near Guishan)

Meals: Includes Breakfast (Hotel buffet), Includes Lunch (Tiger Leaping Gorge snack)

🕘 Morning: Yangtze River Bend + Tiger Leaping Gorge (allow travel between the two sites)
  • Transportation: The proposed 7:30 departure plus the stated 2.5-hour drive would mean arrival at 10:00, not 9:30. The operator must verify the actual hotel-to-site route and distance before confirming the schedule.
  • First Bend of Yangtze River (visit after actual arrival): A 100° V-shaped turn formed by the blockage of Haba and Jade Dragon Snow Mountains. Best photo spot is at the stone marker.
  • Tiger Leaping Gorge (after the bend visit and a separate transfer): One of the deepest canyons in the world (3900m drop). Take the eco-bus to “Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge” and walk the 1.5 km boardwalk. The named “Sky Ladder” and “Zip line” are not confirmed parts of the Upper Gorge visitor route. Their location, licensing, opening and insurance need checking before any booking. Stay on officially open paths and platforms; do not approach the river or enter unofficial routes for a closer view.
  • Lunch: “Tiger Leaping Gorge Slate Grill” near the area (approx. 50 yuan per person).
🕘 Afternoon: Drive to Shangri-La (13:30-16:00)
  • 2.5 hours drive (160 km), passing Xiaozhongdian Flower Sea (stops available May-August).
🕘 Evening: Dukezong Ancient City (16:30-19:30)
  • City Profile: The “Moonlight City,” an ancient town known for Tibetan-style architecture.
  • Must-Do: Spin the world’s largest Prayer Wheel at Guishan Park (21m high, 60 tons, needs 10 people to pull); visit the Red Army Long March Museum (Free, closes at 17:30).
  • Dinner Suggestion: “Tibetan Home Visit” (Reservation required, approx. 80 yuan) for butter tea, tsamba, and yak hotpot.
🕘 Night: Tibetan Dance + Night View (20:00-21:30)
  • Free Tibetan dance performances at Sifang Square starting at 20:00. Enjoy the quiet night along Jinlong Street.

Day 6: Shangri-La · Songzanlin Monastery + Potatso + Tibetan Family

Accommodation: Shangri-La (Same as before)

Meals: Includes Breakfast (Hotel buffet), Includes Lunch (Potatso snack)

🕘 Morning: Songzanlin Monastery (8:30-12:00)
  • Attraction Details: The “Little Potala Palace,” the largest Gelug sect Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, built in 1679.
  • Itinerary: Visit Zhacang Hall (No hats, no photos inside); listen to the history of Master Tsongkhapa. Head to the Lamuyangcuo Lake viewing platform for a panoramic view of the monastery.
  • Tips: Religious activities are not guaranteed tourist performances. Ask the monastery whether observation is permitted and confirm access and etiquette; do not rely on the unverified Mon/Wed/Fri 10:00-11:00 timetable.
🕘 Noon: Lunch (12:30-13:30)
  • “Songtsam Green Valley Restaurant” nearby (approx. 60 yuan).
🕘 Afternoon: Potatso National Park (check closing and last-shuttle times)
  • Itinerary: Choose open lakeside paths at Shudu Lake and check which Bita Lake sections are accessible; the park website reports some areas closed. It currently lists 16:30 closing, with seasonal adjustments, so do not assume both the old 3.3 km and 2 km walks fit an afternoon visit. Include entry, shuttles, walking and return travel in the available time. Fish, yaks and the seasonal “Drunken Fish” phenomenon are not guaranteed sightings; do not approach or feed wildlife.
  • Tips: Wear windbreakers as temperatures drop; walk slowly.
🕘 Evening: Tibetan Family Visit (after the park exit and confirmed transfer)
  • Follow the host’s explanation of local butter-tea etiquette, without pressure to drink a fixed amount, eat cheese cakes, and learn about Tibetan festivals and Thangka arts.
Dinner Suggestion
  • “A’re Tibetan Cuisine” (approx. 70 yuan). Try the Yak Yogurt (15 yuan) and Roasted Tibetan Pork (88 yuan).

DinnerSuggestion(5)DinnerSuggestion(6)

Day 7: Departure from Shangri-La

🕘 Morning: Journey Home
  • Plan checkout, luggage collection and departure backwards from your booked flight or train and its check-in cutoff. Free time is possible only if there is enough margin; 10:00 is not a universal transfer time:
    • Airport (Diqing Shangri-La Airport DIG): confirm the actual hotel-to-terminal route and airline check-in deadline, with a buffer for road delays and security. A fixed 40-minute drive or flight after 12:00 cannot suit every booking.
    • Railway Station (Shangri-La Station): use the service, travel time and boarding deadline shown by China Railway 12306 for your date; confirm the hotel transfer separately rather than treating the old 50-minute road estimate as universal.
Extension Suggestions (Self-pay)
  • Extend by 1 day: Morning visit to Napa Lake/Yila Prairie (horse riding 80 yuan); return to Lijiang in the afternoon.

Fixed Itinerary and Service Description

  • Included Services: 3 nights accommodation (Lijiang/Shangri-La), 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches, ropeway/eco-bus tickets, monastery guide, Tibetan home visit.
  • Self-pay Items: Impression Lijiang show (280 yuan), Tiger Leaping Gorge “Sky Ladder” (old reference 80 yuan; not arranged until location, opening and licensing are confirmed), monastery audio guide (20 yuan), Tibetan costume rental (50 yuan).
  • Plateau Tips: Shangri-La town and the park routes have different elevations; 3459m is not the highest elevation of this itinerary. Avoid strenuous activity, stop ascending if unwell and seek help; worsening symptoms require descent. UV rays are extreme; use SPF50+ sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
