Accommodation is described here as fixed in Dali (first 2 nights) and Shangri-La (3rd night onwards), but Days 5 and 6 below specify Lijiang. Ask us to confirm the six-night hotel schedule in writing before booking; these descriptions are inconsistent.

Day 2 Dali Classic Line · Three Pagodas + Erhai Lake + Ancient City
Meals: Breakfast √ (Included at hotel) | Lunch × (on your own) | Dinner × (on your own)
Accommodation: Dali (Same as previous day)
🕘【Fixed Itinerary · Morning: Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple】 (9:00-11:30)
- Attraction Details: The Three Pagodas were built in the late Nanzhao Kingdom (approx. 9th century AD). They are the core remains of the “Chongsheng Temple,” the royal temple of the Dali Kingdom, and belong to the Tang Dynasty style of dense-eave brick pagodas. The main pagoda “Qianxun Pagoda” is 69.13 meters high (the highest ancient pagoda existing in Yunnan), and the north and south smaller pagodas are 42.19 meters high. The three pagodas are arranged in a triangle, forming a classic picture with Cangshan Snow and Erhai Moon.
- Must-do Experience:
- Taking photos at the Reflection Pond (located directly in front of the Three Pagodas; light is best before 10 AM or after 4 PM, light-colored clothing recommended);
- Chongsheng Temple (individual ticket 75 RMB/person, including the Three Pagodas pass) allows you to climb the pagoda to overlook Erhai Lake. The “Rain Copper Guanyin Statue” inside the temple is a modern reconstruction based on historic photographs, not the surviving Nanzhao original; the statue itself is 8.6 meters high.
🕐 【Fixed Itinerary · Afternoon: Erhai Ecological Corridor Cycling】 (13:30-16:00)
- Route Recommendation: Longkan Pier → Caicun Pier. Set the riding distance and turnaround point from the actual rental and return locations rather than treating this as a fixed 10 km one-way ride. Check the Longkan–Caicun route and bicycle-return guidance, confirm whether one-way return is allowed, and arrange driver pickup on a road outside the corridor.
- Practical Information:
- Rentals: For the corridor ride, choose a bicycle permitted at the entrance and confirm the rental price and return point before paying. Do not assume a road-rental electric scooter is permitted inside the corridor; check the posted vehicle restrictions.
- Sights: Pass through Caicun Wetland (where water birds can be observed) and Panxi S-bend (a separate extension to agree with the guide, not automatically included in the Longkan–Caicun segment; stop clear of the cycle lane for photos);
- Sun Protection: High-altitude UV rays are strong; hats, sunglasses, and SPF50+ sunscreen are required.
🕓【Free Activity · Evening: Dali Ancient City】 (16:00-19:00)
- Recommended Route: South Gate → Wuhua Building → Renmin Road → Fuxing Road → Foreigner Street.
- Wuhua Building (Ming Dynasty architecture, 2 RMB/person to climb): Overlook the chessboard layout of the ancient city; light and shadow are exquisite at sunset;
- Renmin Road: Concentrated with artistic small shops (e.g., “Meeting Love at the Corner” handmade silver shop), where you can find tie-dyed scarves (50-100 RMB/piece);
- Foreigner Street: Lively bar street at night; “Tang Dynasty Bar” is recommended (live band, from 50 RMB/person).
🍽️【Food Recommendations】
- Lunch: “Shijing Private Kitchen” (Bai ethnic Eight Big Bowls, recommended sour and spicy fish, braised chicken, approx. 60 RMB/person, Address: No. 45 Renmin Road);
- Dinner: “Yiheng Restaurant” (Local favorite, Casserole Fish + Braised Pork with Carved Plum, approx. 50 RMB/person, Address: No. 123 Fuxing Road).

🕐 【Fixed Itinerary · Afternoon: Zhoucheng Village + Travel to Shangri-La】 (13:30-21:00)
- Zhoucheng Village (15 minutes drive from Xizhou): Known as the “Hometown of Tie-dye.” Puzhen Tie-dye Museum is recommended (free visit to see traditional tie-dye processes). Paid tie-dye scarf experience (120 RMB/person, including instruction, takes 2 hours).
- Bus to Shangri-La (Departs at 17:00, approx. 4 hours drive):
- Route: Via Dali-Lijiang Expressway → National Highway 214, with views of alpine meadows and Tibetan villages along the way;
- Note: Shangri-La is at high altitude. Keep arrival-evening activity light and allow time to rest. Small oxygen cans do not provide sustained treatment for altitude illness. Discuss the ascent and your health with a clinician before travel.
🕘【Free Activity · Evening: Shangri-La Ancient City】 (After 21:00)

Meals: Breakfast √ (Included at hotel) | Lunch × (on your own) | Dinner × (on your own)
Accommodation: Hotel near Dukezong Ancient City, Shangri-La (Reference location: Next to Guishan Park, 5 minutes walk to the center of the ancient city)
🕘【Fixed Itinerary · Morning: Potatso National Park】 (8:30-12:30)
- Attraction Details: China’s first national park (piloted in 2006, formally named in 2012), located in the core area of the “Three Parallel Rivers” World Natural Heritage site, with a total area of 1313 square kilometers. The park consists of “Shudu Lake + Bita Lake + Militang Sub-alpine Meadow,” featuring alpine lakes, meadows, and primitive forests.
- Shudu Lake (Altitude 3705m): The largest lake in the park, covering 15 square kilometers. Shudu Sub-alpine Meadow is distributed along the shore. Primroses bloom in spring, and the forest is dyed with autumn colors. We arrange to take the shuttle bus to the entrance of Shudu Lake boardwalk (20 minutes one way) and walk 3.3 km on the wooden boardwalk (approx. 1.5 hours) to observe alpine birds like Black-necked Cranes and Bar-headed Geese.
- Bita Lake (Altitude 3539m): Famous for the “Drunken Fish under Rhododendrons” wonder around the lake (May-June). We arrange for a shuttle bus tour around the lake (approx. 1 hour), focusing on viewing the “Heart of the Lake Island” (considered a sacred mountain by Tibetans, landing is prohibited).
- Practical Tips: The scenic area is at high altitude; bring warm, windproof layers because temperatures can drop even in summer. Do not continue upward with altitude symptoms or rely on a small oxygen can to keep touring; the shuttle bus ticket is included in the entrance fee (Entrance fee 100 RMB/person, self-paid).
🕐【Fixed Itinerary · Noon: Songzanlin Monastery】 (13:30-16:00)
- History and Architecture: The largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Yunnan (built in the 18th year of Emperor Kangxi, expanded in 1717), Tibetan name “Ganden Sumtseling,” known as the “Little Potala Palace.” The buildings are built along the mountain in a five-story Tibetan tower style, merging the essence of Gelug Sect architecture. The main hall “Zha Cang” is 33 meters high and overlooks Lamuyangcuo Lake.
- Experience Suggestions: We arrange for a group explanation (50 RMB/group, voluntary participation), focusing on visiting “Tsongkhapa Main Hall” (enshrining the bronze statue of Master Tsongkhapa) and “Shakyamuni Hall” (murals depicting the life of Shakyamuni). Climb to the viewpoint behind the temple (15 minutes walk) for a panoramic photo of the temple and lake.
- Scam/Etiquette Alert: Photography is prohibited inside the temple (especially of Buddha statues), stepping on thresholds is forbidden, and donations are voluntary (not mandatory).
🕓【Fixed Itinerary · Afternoon: Dukezong Ancient City + Tibetan Home Visit】 (16:30-20:00)
- Dukezong Ancient City (The world’s largest Tibetan residential cluster, dating back to the Tang Dynasty, a key town on the Yunnan-Tibet line of the Tea Horse Road):

🕘【Fixed Itinerary · Morning: Tiger Leaping Gorge (Upper Section)】 (8:30-11:30)
- Attraction Details: A deep canyon between Jade Dragon and Haba Snow Mountains; the quoted 3900-meter figure refers to the gorge’s vertical relief, not a 3900-meter fall of the Jinsha River along this section. The upper section is the narrowest part (only 30 meters wide), known for being “dangerous, rapid, and majestic.”
- Experience:
- We arrange to take the scenic vehicle to the viewpoint (approx. 20 minutes) and walk to the “Sky Ladder” (168 steps, overlooking the “Tiger Leaping Rock” in the Jinsha River);
- Optional self-paid elevator (50 RMB/person, direct to the bottom) to feel the roar of the river up close (more shocking in summer when water volume is high).

🕐【Fixed Itinerary · Noon: First Bend of the Yangtze River】 (12:00-13:30)
- Geographic Wonder: When the Jinsha River flows through Shigu Town, it forms a V-shaped bend of over 100 degrees due to mountain obstruction, known as the “First Bend of the Yangtze River.”

- Must-visit Spots:
- Sifang Street (Naxi elders dance “A Li Li” daily 16:00-17:00, spontaneous organization);
- Mu Mansion (The “Forbidden City of Lijiang,” ticket 40 RMB/person, self-paid; view Naxi architecture and Tusi culture exhibitions);
- Kegong Lane (Symbol of imperial examination culture in the Qing Dynasty, a three-story wooden building overlooking the ancient city).
- Free Activity Suggestions: Browse “Wuyi Street” (concentrated artistic shops; e.g., experience papermaking at “Dongba Paper Workshop” for 30 RMB/person) and “Qiyi Street” (food street; “No. 88 Snack Shop” Chickpea Jelly is recommended at 8 RMB/serving).
🕖【Fixed Itinerary · Evening: Black Dragon Pond Park】 (19:30-20:30)

- Spruce Meadow Ropeway (Ropeway ticket 140 RMB/person, self-paid): At 3240m altitude, it is a sub-alpine meadow hidden in primitive spruce forests, offering distant views of the peaks;
- Blue Moon Valley (Free, included in entry fee): 4 lakes and 1 river formed by snow melt (Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake, Blue Moon Lake, Tingtao Lake + Baishui River), appearing blue due to calcium and magnesium ions.
